Fancy Dress Costume Ideas Starting - Beginning With The Letter A

For many, choosing a theme for their fancy dress party can be quite frustrating. We all want to do something different, and the choice is immense, however most themes have been 'done to death'!

Another problem, when choosing a fancy dress theme, is the range of costumes can be very limited. For example, if you chose vicars and tarts as your theme you are almost certain to see many people turn up in the same costume. Although not terrible, it does put a slight dampener on the event as part of the fun is seeing how imaginative people have been with their fancy dress costumes.

So what can you do? Well, a simple solution is to use the alphabet. Choose a letter of the alphabet to base your fancy dress theme on. Very simple, yet very effective.

This gives you several advantages.

• By choosing a letter of the alphabet you are not restricting your fancy dress event to a specific theme or style.
• There are so many fancy dress costumes that begin with each letter of the alphabet you are sure to get a good variety of characters turn up to your event.
• There are 26 letters in the alphabet so you'll never be stuck for a new fancy dress theme, just work your way through the alphabet!

One word of advice, when sending out your invites make sure you are clear as to what is expected. Offer some examples of fancy dress costumes that relate to your chosen letter. It is common for some people to mis-interpret the theme and turn up in a costume from any letter of the alphabet!

ASTRONAUT - Astronauts have been seen in many films like Armageddon, Space 1999 and Apollo 13. There are several designs of astronaut costumes to choose from.

ANAKIN SKYWALKER - Another costume idea beginning with 'A' comes from the legendary Star Wars films.

AVIATOR - Pilots costume, some influences are - Biggles, Top Gun, World War Pilot. Accessories to complete the look could be goggles, scarf and flying helmet.

AUSTIN POWERS - Another iconic film based costume. Groovy Baby!

ARMY - The choice is almost endless when it comes to army fancy dress costumes. You could get authentic army clothing and accessories or perhaps a sexy soldier outfit? The only hard part with this costume is deciding!
